San Antonio 4th Of July 2014 Events: Best Fireworks, Festivals, & Celebrations

Looking for the best place to enjoy your 2014 Fourth of July holiday in San Antonio?  

We here in the Alamo City are known for doing their July 4 events up right, and there are lots of free and inexpensive family-friendly events happening around town that weekend.

Here's a list of the best fireworks shows, celebrations, and other events scheduled for July 4, 2014 in and around San Antonio and throughout the Hill Country:


  • Alamodome -- The most popular fireworks display in the San Antonio metro area, Stars & Stripes Over San Antonio, has moved from Hemisfair Park to the Alamodome this year.  The party runs from 6pm to 10pm on Friday, July 4, with live music, food trucks, a kids' play zone sponsored by HEB, and a canned food drive to benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.  Active-duty military get in free with proof of ID, as well as kids under 12.  Everyone else pays $2 admission.
  • Boardwalk on Bulverde -- Free sparklers with any meal purchase, plus $1 off your meal for anyone wearing red, white, & blue.  Live music and family fun scheduled from 5-10pm on Friday, July 4.
  • Boerne Fourth of July Fireworks -- Free show begins at 8pm in City Park.
  • Buda's Red, White, & Buda Independence Day Celebration -- Free children's parade in the morning starting at 9am, free fireworks show starting at 9:30pm.
  • Kerrville's 4th of July on the River -- Food booths, kids' activities, and vendors kick off at 2pm, Robert Earl Keen performs at 8pm, and the town promises the biggest fireworks show in the Hill Country starting at 9:30pm.  Free admission to the entire event, which will be held at Lehmann & Monroe Park.
  • Kirby 4th of July Celebration -- Fireworks display, family fun, food, music, games and more at Friendship Park from 2pm to midnight.  Free admission, but an all-you-can-play wristband for slides, moon bounces, and other rides will be $15 each until 4pm, or $20 each after 4pm.
  • Lockhart July Fourth Extravaganza -- This small town has decided to hold their big party on Saturday, July 5, featuring free community swimming from 10am to 6pm, plus a horseshoes tournament, a sky-diving show, fireworks, and more.
  • New Braunfels Landa Park July 4th Celebration 2014 -- Free retro rock concert at 6:30pm and fireworks kick off at 9:15pm.
  • Riverwalk July 4th Arts and Crafts Show 2014 -- runs 11am to 8pm along the famous San Antonio Riverwalk.
  • San Antonio's Market Square -- Freedom Fest runs Friday, July 4 through Sunday, July 6, with a free concert by The Spazmatics on Saturday night.
  • San Antonio Missions -- Take in a ballgame on the Fourth (the Missions will take on the Tulsa Drillers) then stick around for a free post-game concert by Kevin Fowler and fireworks.  There will be another post-game fireworks show on Saturday, July 5 as well.
  • Schertz 2014 Fourth of July Jubilee -- runs July 3 - 4, 2014 in Pickrell Park, featuring a BBQ cook-off competition, a carnival, a parade, fireworks, and more.  Free admission.
  • Sea World San Antonio Fourth of July Celebration -- Free fireworks with purchased ticket on Friday, July 4 and Saturday, July 5.  Don't forget military families can get in free to Sea World this summer.
  • Seguin Independence Day Celebration -- Promising the "Biggest Small Town 4th-of-July Parade in Texas", plus a free BBQ luncheon, fireworks, and more.  Festivities start at 9am on July 4.
  • Six Flags Lights Of Liberty -- Come out to the park July 4 - 6 for stunning fireworks, thrilling rides, award-winning entertainment and summer fun for the entire family.  Plus, bring a can of Coca-Cola with you to the park any of those three days, and you'll snag a free wristband entitling you to early admission.
  • Wimberley's July Jubilee -- There's a bunch of stuff happening all weekend long at Wimberley, including the VFW Rodeo (running July 3 - 6), a 4th of July celebration at the Duchman Family Winery, and a free fireworks show running Sunday, July 6 on the VFW fairgrounds.
  • Woodlawn Lake Park -- Enjoy free admission on Friday, July 4 from 8am to 11pm, with the HEB Fireworks Extravaganza scheduled to start at 9:30pm.  Kids can ride select rides for free from 12:30pm to 2pm that day, and active and retired military can eat lunch for free from noon to 2pm with proof of proper ID.
